Transforming Pandora by Carolyn Mathews opens in the Spring of 2003. She has recently been widowed. She had fallen in love with Mike thirty years ago, but complications and obligations ended their relationship. Nonetheless, he remained a constant presence in her thoughts. Pandora had other relationships and even a marriage which ended in divorce. After reuniting with Mike, they married and until his untimely death they had a good life.
After Mike’s death Pandora agrees to attend a session with a medium. As a result, she enters into a relationship, of sorts, with an apparition named Enoch. Their dialogue is presented in eloquent prose. Pandora is multifaceted woman and this is probably the reason she lives an interesting life. Pandora experiences yet another reunion this time with the man she had once divorced. As for the outcome well, you’ll have to read the book.
The author has created a well-defined, interesting and a likeable protagonist in Pandora. The novel is filled with charismatic characters. The novel travels seamlessly between Pandora’s past and the year 2004. This is the story of a life and it is worth reading. I hope that in the future there is a sequel to this book.
I received this book free of charge through LibraryThing and I give this review of my own free will.
