Futures filled with promise can change in just one moment and this is what happens in Hit, a novel by Lorie Ann Grover. Sarah has received a scholarship to an all girl college, but has become smitten with her student teacher Mr. Haddings who attends a nearby university. He is aware of her interest in him and what the consequences would be if he enters into a relationship with her. Each one of them has completely different plans for the upcoming day when suddenly a car accident alters everything forever.
The entire story takes place in three days and is alternately told in the voices of Sarah and Mr. Haddings. The author has created well developed secondary characters who are just as important as the protagonists. Packed with raw emotion and tension, the pace builds and Hit draws the reader in from the very first page and holds them there until the very end. I found Hit to be a well written and gripping novel.
