Written in Love, a novel by Kathleen Fuller, opens with a series of letters between two strangers. A letter that Jalon Chupp mailed was delivered by mistake to Phoebe. Phoebe mails the letter back to Jalon with an explanation and, as a result, they become pen pals. During the correspondence, they develop feelings for each other without revealing too much about themselves. When Phoebe’s letters suddenly stop, Jalon has to find out why.
When he arrives at Phoebe’s address he learns what she hasn’t divulged in her letters. Unbeknownst to Phoebe, Jalon has secrets of his own.
While Phoebe and Jalon’s backgrounds are very different, there is one thing they share and that is the desire overcome their pasts and to make peace with the present. Finding love along the way would be a good thing, too. They encounter obstacle after obstacle. Will their faith lead them to a future together?
I found this to be a beautifully told story. I was immersed in it from the beginning. Jalon and Phoebe are well developed and believable characters who do not want to be defined by scars of the past. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
